Introduction
The purpose of this site is to consolidate many disparate pieces of information about Loudon Park Cemetery in Baltimore, Maryland. Loudon Park has been in business since 1853 and tens of thousands of burials have been performed here, including famous people like journalist H. L. Mencken, and Mary Pickersgill, maker of the flag that flew at Fort McHenry during the Battle of Baltimore in 1814. There are also some relatives of Napolean Bonaparte buried here. Loudon Park also has a section devoted to Confederate soldiers from Maryland.
Loudon Park Cemetery encompasses 350 acres, so finding a particular grave site if you don't know the location is pretty much impossible. The Links section contains links to several websites that might be of use in finding a grave site. The Documents section contains scans of a list from 1872 showing the owners of plots at Loudon Park as of that time, scans from a short-lived project to transcribe the caretaker records, as well as various maps of the cemetery. More information is posted as it becomes available, so check back from time to time. Note that you can also call the Loudon Park office at (410) 644-1900 and they may be able to find grave sites for you. However, their records are not computerized, so if you have more than two or three, they will probably charge for additional lookups.
If you have comments, corrections, suggestions, or additions, please leave a message on the Contact page. Thanks for visiting!
